SHEFFIELD FC came through their FA Trophy replay at Warrington Town winning 3-2 last night to earn a home tie against Bamber Bridge in the First Round Qualifying.

Sheffield took the lead inside the first minute, Conor Higginson heading in from a Matt Glass cross. Club doubled their advantage five minutes before the break through Higginson. But two goals early in the second half saw Warrington restore parity.

However, Club grabbed the winner with 10 minutes remaining when Higginson whipped in a free-kick that went in off a defenders out-stretched boot. However, it required a late penalty save from keeper Dan Whatsize to keep Sheffield’s lead intact.

Stocksbridge Park Steels picked up their first away win of the season beating Chasetown 3-1 to climb off the foot of the Evo-Stick Premier Division table.

Jack Muldoon broke the deadlock with a superb solo goal before Chasetown levelled five minutes before the break. Steels restored their lead two minutes after the interval, Brian Cusworth steering in an Anthony Lloyd cross from six-yards. Three minutes later Cusworth grabbed his second after good work from Michael Blythen.

Frickley went down 3-1 at home against FC United of Manchester.

Hallam bowed out of the Wilkinson Sword Trophy beaten 3-2 at home by Teversal. Danny Wiltshire and Dwayne Wiley scored for Hallam but the visitors won from the spot with 19 minutes remaining

Worsbrough Bridge Athletic drew 1-1 at home with Albion Sports. Shane Kelsey gave the Briggers a 28th minute lead which was cancelled out by an Albion equaliser just after the break.
