He said: “If we stay up at the end of the season by just one goal, I’ll be a happy man.

“We’ll then have all summer to regroup and prepare for next season.

“We’re in a battle and the players need to respond to that.

“Our performance levels in the last couple of games have been good but we need to start picking up points.”

Chesterfield look set to be without Lee Novak who has suffered a foot injury.

Fellow striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake is rated 50-50 by his boss after being withdrawn at half time in last weekend’s home defeat against Peterborough United with a hamstring problem.

Byron Harrison will not be covering for the injured pair after being loaned to League Two side Stevenage for a month.

Wilson said of Harrison: “His intensity isn’t anywhere near where I expect it to be.”

The 20-year-old Bermudan has not started a game since November but his impressed off the bench since.

Former Sheffield Wednesday forward Mani Dieseruvwe will also be hoping for a rare start.
