Premier League Aston Villa visit the Proact Stadium tonight to take on Chesterfield.

Kick-Off is 7.45pm and Paul Lambert is expected to field a strong side after he used the vast majority of his fit players in the recent two game tour of Texas.

Paul Cook will be without Ollie Banks and Drew Talbot plus back up keeper Aaron Chapman. The manager is pleased with the progress midfielder Banks is making after the injury he picked up at Wembley in March and the former Rotherham United man is expected to be available for selection soon after the start of the league season.

Dan Gardner and Ritchie Humphreys both got a run out alongside a team primarily made up of youngsters and trialists at Staveley MW on Monday night, the home side won 4-3, so they’re likely to be on the bench this evening.

Trialists on display included Romy Boco, former Accrington midfielder Luke Clark and ex-Brentford engine roomer Michael Onovwigun plus a couple of young keepers from the USA.

That means that Sam Hird could continue in a holding midfield role with Jimmy Ryan pushed up into the attacking midfield trio, a system that worked well in the weekend’s 2-2 draw at home to Leeds United.

The Villa game represents Spireites final scheduled first team pre-season game though young elevens are set to play tomorrow night at Wosborough Bridge Athletic’s Park Road ground (7.45pm, £5) and on Friday at Dronfield Town which kicks off at 7pm at Stonelow Road, entry costs £4 for adults.
