Midfielder Dimaio, 20, who had been with Sheffield United for 11 years, had been training with Chesterfield and appeared in a couple of reserves games, including yesterday’s 2-0 defeat against Hartlepool United.

He’s signed until the end of the season. Dimaio tweeted: “So happy to sign for Chesterfield today, can’t beat playing for your local team and the team you watch growing up.”

That signing was followed by the one that fills the huge void left when Sam Morsy left for Wigan before the weekend.

Liddle, 29, has joined for a fee from League One rivals Bradford City, for whom he’s been a regular in his year and a half at Valley Parade.

In the summer of 2006 as a raw youngster, Wilson signed him for Hartlepool United from Middlesbrough, his home town team.

Six years at Victoria Park, at a time when Chris Turner was also there, were followed by two seasons at Notts County before the switch to Bradford in 2014.

Liddle said: “I’m delighted to get it all sorted.

“The chance to work with the manager again really appealed to me and that was a major factor in my decision to sign because Danny is one of the best managers I’ve worked for.

“I know Ritchie Humphreys as well and he’s told me about the club. I’m predominantly a midfielder but I can play at centre-back as well.”

Wilson said: “He’s a versatile, no-nonsense player who is a ‘seven out of ten’ every week and I’m sure the fans will take to him.”

Anderson , 22, has yet to make a first team appearance for Burnley, where he’s been since the age of seven but he’s had a number of loans with non-league clubs and also spent time at Carlisle United last season.

Commenting on the transfer activity, Chief Executive Turner said: “I am very pleased with the business we have done before the transfer deadline.

“We have brought in three players who will strengthen the defensive and midfield areas of the squad.”
