The club have released a financial breakdown from the match, including their deduction of £1,800 for stewarding costs, although kind hearted supporters have already raised more than £2,800 to cover those costs.

Money raised by the match will be split between dementia charities and the Once Upon a Smile foundation, supported by the celebrities who featured in the match.

Moss is a Spireites legend and the club’s record goalscorer and he suffers from a rare form of dementia.

Chesterfield plan to hold another ‘Ernie Moss Day’ this season and say they’ll continue to support Team Ernie, the charity set up by the ex professional’s family.

A club spokesman said: “The Moss family and the rest of Team Ernie should be congratulated on their efforts.

“We will continue to support the Moss family and Team Ernie in whatever way possible as they raise awareness of dementia and raise funds for their designated charities.

“We will hold a second ‘Ernie Moss Day’ when we play Ernie’s old club Port Vale next April.

“The first Ernie Moss Day was a memorable occasion and we want to provide fans with another opportunity to pay tribute to one of the most popular players in the history of the club.”

The club also revealed that they waived £800 costs for refreshments for players and families on the day, along with admin costs incurred during the ticket sales period and the cost of office staff working on the day.
