Chesterfield games could be off as National League meet to discuss potential suspension amid coronavirus pandemic
The National League board are set to meet this morning to discuss the possibility of postponing the competition - a move which would follow the EFL and Premier League's announcement earlier today.
The FA released a statement following the news, including a specific reference to the English fifth tier and below.
"We are liaising with the National League pyramids (men’s and women’s) and will continue to offer guidance and support. Any decision to continue playing or to postpone their respective competitions is a matter for each league as autonomous bodies within the game."
The spread of coronavirus has seen football competitions across the globe grind to a halt, with domestic leagues such as La Liga and Serie A suspended, along with the Europa League and Champions League.
Chesterfield are due to face Dover away on Saturday, but it is looking increasingly likely that the division could become the latest go into lockdown.
