LEAGUE Two champions Chesterfield are to get a civic reception after an open top bus ride through the town to mark their achievement.

Chesterfield Borough Council will hold a reception at the Town Hall and supporters and townspeople can show their acclaim for John Sheridan’s men and his staff.

It is expected the open top bus will begin its journey at the B2net stadium, go through the town centre and, on arrival at the Town Hall, the players will be invited out onto the balcony with their League Two trophy.

The Chesterfield party will be welcomed by the town’s Mayor, Cllr Peter Barr and the Leader of the Council, Cllr John Burrows at the event on Tuesday, July 12 at 6.30.

Cllr Burrows said: “It’s been a great achievement for the Club this year and is a real boost for the town.

“We’re delighted to welcome them and hope residents and fans, including those who may not have managed to attend the last game of the season, will come along and join in the celebrations.”
