Young West Bromwich Albion defender Jack Fitzwater is training with Chesterfield with a view to moving to the Spireites on loan.
The 17-year-old, who can play on the right side of central defence or at right-back, was Albion’s academy player of the year last season and took part in the club’s pre-season tour of Austria.
Spireites boss Dean Saunders said: “Tony Pulis recommended him to me and we’re initially assessing him for three or four days.
“He’s only 17 but has a great future. At the moment I just need to have a look at him and see if he’s ready for League One football.
“Talent-wise he’ll be a player eventually and it will do him good being with us.
“If we want to take it any further and sort out a loan deal then we can do it in the next few days.”
