The first lady of Chesterfield FC put in an ‘awesome’ performance in her charity swim on Saturday.
Lisa Allen, wife of first team boss Martin, completed the 1.5km Club to Pub swim from Henley Rowing Club to the Angel on the Bridge for Cancer Research.
“She completed the challenge, she showed great guts, determination and courage, swimming against the current,” said Martin.
“It was tough and it was testing but she never faltered, never complained, she stuck at it.
“She put in an awesome performance and has raised nearly £2,500.”
The manager says his players can learn something from his wife, who he sees as part of the backroom team, and the way in which Town fans rallied round her.
“It’s these values and principles, of all the Chesterfield people supporting my wife and her values and principles to complete it that I want from my team,” he said.
“That’s what we will have in our team.
“She is part of our staff by the way, she has a massive part to play.
“All the players sponsored her.
“She helped big time with the organisation of the get together, she virtually did all the blinking work.
“She’s a great character, a great person and I’m very proud of her.”
