chesterfield are looking to do what they did after their last two defeats and bounce back with a vengeance.
Following the 2-0 home loss against Morecambe, a game that had many parallels with the 3-0 defeat at Hereford at the weekend, John Sheridan’s men hammered second-placed Wycombe Wanderers 4-1.
A 2-0 loss at Crewe Alexandra saw a much better performance than against Morecambe, though the same overall result. The Spireites next game? The 5-0 drubbing of Rotherham United.
So watch out Macclesfield Town is the message. Sheridan said: “Usually we’ve responded well after a defeat, so I’m not getting too down; it was a bad day at the office and hopefully we can get the points next week.
“At times we looked like Raggedy Rovers when we were defending and we just didn’t get going.”
The manager still refuses to get carried away and he gave just one of his players some credit after the Edgar Street debacle: “People keep saying ‘promotion this and promotion that’ but we’re not good enough players to say what we’ve already done when we haven’t done anything and I’ll keep saying that until we’re out of this league.
“Some of the players can’t handle the little bit of limelight they’re getting at the moment. The only player to have come out of the game with any credit was Drew Talbot, who gives you that all day long.”
Macclesfield will be without defender Carl Tremarco who picked up two yellows in the 2-2 draw at home to in-form Accrington Stanley on Friday night.
