Spireites’ third consecutive win, against Northampton Town on Tuesday, sets them up for the weekend trip to Dario Gradi’s Crewe.

Alexandra were involved in the game of the season at the B2net back in October when John Sheridan’s men fought back from 4-1 down to nick a 5-5 draw.

Sheridan is full of praise for the philosophy of Crewe: “They will be expecting a great game of football but hopefully afterwards they’ll not think it has been, as we want to go there and win the game. I like the way they play, I have a lot of respect for Dario Gradi and the players he’s brought through over the years and how he wants his team to play. It’s great for this division, but if it’s a game like the one we played here, there’ll be about 25,000 there! It’ll be a tough game, they’re a good team but we’ll try and get the points to help us get to where we want to be.”Dwayne Mattis came on for the last few moments in the Northampton game after his calf injury and he’s back in contention for a start. Dean Morgan was left out in midweek after two games in quick succession following two months out. He could be available again.

Derek Niven had five stitches in a head wound on Tuesday and is a doubt whilst Jack Lester, a goal and an assist against Northampton, is likely to have his customary away match rest.

Alex lost 1-0 at Macclesfield on Tuesday, they have slipped out of the play-off shake up with just one win in their last eight games.
