Spireites assault on League One begins at Prenton Park tomorrow.

The champions of League Two, minus strikers Craig Davies, who has moved to Barnsley and Deane Smalley, who has joined Oxford, travel to Tranmere Rovers, who finished in 18th spot last term.

Rovers lost more home games than they won last season and go into the season with a very similar squad to last season’s.

Manager Les Parry’s firmed up a couple of last term’s loan men and has added keeper Owain Fon Williams from Rochdale plus ex Barnsley winger Martin Devaney to their squad.

Their only other new face is Danny Holmes, who made his single league appearance, for Rovers, as a youngster before dropping out of the league. He’s returned via Welsh side The New Saints.

Spireites have everyone bar left back Gregor Robertson (achilles) fit.

John Sheridan has kept his powder very dry and predicting his starting line up is almost impossible.

However Tommy Lee is certain to start in goal with a back four likely to be Dean Holden, Aaron Downes, Dwayne Mattis and Nathan Smith.

Midfield looks like being made up of Drew Talbot, Mark Allott, Mark Randall and Danny Whitaker with Dean Morgan and Jack Lester best bets to start in attack.

Centre half Simon Ford and striker Jordan Bowery are two players that could justifiably gatecrash that line-up with trialist Rohan Ricketts an outside bet if he’s offered a last gasp deal. If Ricketts starts, Holden would miss out with Talbot switching to right back.

Spireites are expected to be backed by a more than decent following trekking over to the Wirral to assess just what’s needed to ascend the League One table.
