Scott Wiseman is out to make it a hat-trick of career promotions this season with Chesterfield.
The versatile defender signed a two-year contract at the Proact this morning, alongside fellow former Scunthorpe United man Joe Anyon.
Wiseman has tasted promotion before, with both Rochdale and Preston North End, who went up into the Championship in 2015 after defeating Chesterfield in the play-off semi-finals.
He sees the 2017/18 campaign as an opportunity to give celebrate promotion once again.
“I’ve been fortunate in my career that I’ve always been at teams that were in and amongst it,” he said.
“I know what it takes to get out of this.
“This is an opportunity to be part of something big.
“I wouldn’t be here if I thought we were going to be the also-rans or a mediocre team, I want to be pushing and I want another promotion on my CV.”
Town boss Gary Caldwell has indicated that Wiseman’s history of winning was a big factor in trying to land his signature.
And the fact that the former Barnsley defender can play in a number of positions ticked another box.
“I think that might be part of the appeal for the manager, that I can operate in a few positions,” said Wiseman.
“I’ve played a lot in a back four, at centre-half a lot and in my Championship days filled in at left-back as well.
“So I can play anywhere across the back five for him really, so it’s good for me because I know I can play in any system he wants.”
And at the age of 31, the new Spireite still feels like he’s in his prime and believes he brings a lot to the table.
“I’m still as quick as I always have been, I don’t feel myself slowing down at all,” he said.
“I’ve been fortunate touch wood that I’ve not had any major injuries or anything big to slow me down.
“So I feel fantastic.
“I’m an honest player, very quick, I do like to be on the ball and I like to carry it as well.
“I’m an organiser as well, I’ll be talking to the lads and encouraging them.
“I’m coming into this with an open mind, it’s a clean slate for me and everyone else.
“I’ve never played with any of the lads here so it’s going to be exciting.”
