A former Chesterfield boss is the bookies’ favourite to become manager once again – but he’s not the one fans have ranked as their number one preference.
Nicky Law, who was in attendance at the Proact Stadium on Saturday as Town lost to Wycombe Wanderers, is now 5/2 to replace the departed Jack Lester.
In a Derbyshire Times poll, however, John Sheridan (9/2) came out on top as the man Spireites would most like to see in the hot seat - out of those given short odds by bookies.
Graham Alexander, who remains at 20/1, was second in the voting, while Law was ranked third.
Ronnie Moore, who was 3/1 and is now at 7/2, was fourth, with ex Chesterfield product Kevin Davies (8/1) fifth and caretaker boss Ian Evatt (10/1) sixth.
This morning Aldershot assistant manager James Rowe is 7/1.
