With the club languishing in mid-table, Chesterfield were as close to the play-offs as they were to the relegation zone when Paul Cook took charge on October 26, 2012.
Cook, who this week penned a new deal at the Proact Stadium until 2016, believes it’s a very different atmosphere around the club to the one he walked into 11 months ago.
“We weren’t in a good place when I took over,” he said. “That’s not a criticism of anything that’s gone before me. The supporters were restless and a lot of people might have been waiting for me to fail. If a manager took over from me tomorrow, he’d do things differently.”
