Central defender Matty Brown, freed by Spireites this summer, has joined Skrill Conference Premier side Chester on a year’s deal.

Brown, 24, followed his former Marine manager Kevin Lynch to Saltergate last year– Lynch is Spireites first team coach.

The former Manchester City youngster, who captained their reserve side, had a loan spell at Southport before returning to make his League debut in December in a home match against Plymouth Argyle.

In that game Brown become the first, and still only, man to both score and be sent-off in his Football League bow. Ironically the red card was subsequently overturned. His only other start was in the 4-0 home win over Bury and he came on as a sub in the 2-0 victory at Exeter City meaning not a single goal has been conceded in his entire league career.

The defender joined Chester on loan in the Spring and, though initially they were relegated, Hereford United’s subsequent demise has seen the Deva Stadium club retain their Conference National spot.

Former Spireite and Blades midfielder Lloyd Kerry, 26, has joined Harrogate Town after being released by Tamworth for whom he was last season’s Player of the Year. Kerry was at Chesterfield between February 2008 and the summer of 2010.

Lincoln City has announced that the friendly against Chesterfield at Sincil Bank will be priced at £10 for adults, £5 for concessions and £2 for students and Under 18’s. The July 19th match (3pm) will be pay on the day only for all attendees.
