Chesterfield: Spireites striker-less with Richards injured

chesterfield look set to be without striker Marc Richards again.

His tight hamstring is not likely to be risked following Chesterfield’s 3-0 success over York City, a game played without any recognised strikers for Paul Cook’s side.

With Jack Lester serving the third of his three-match ban, Luis Boa Morte looks likely to continue in attack with Jay O’Shea supporting. Danny Whitaker, who came off the bench to score and then assist the third goal, will count himself unlucky if he doesn’t get a start.

Morecambe, who have never lost an away game against Chesterfield, haven’t won in four having lost 1-0 in their derby game at Fleetwood Town on Boxing Day. They beat Spireites 2-0 at the Globe Arena earlier in the season in what was the Proact side’s worst performance of the season.

Shrimps assistant boss Ken McKenna said his side’s failure to score when they were on top proved vital in the Boxing Day 1-0 defeat at Highbury.

McKenna said: “I thought we started the second half quite well, but when you’re on top you’ve got to put your chances away.”
