Once again, defeat for Spireites will mean they can throw away the calculators.

John Sheridan’s 23rd-placed side travel to Hartlepool United on Saturday looking to delay the inevitable.

Pool haven’t been involved in too many thrillers of late. Neale Cooper’s men have failed to score in six of their last eight matches.

James Poole is the leading scorer at Victoria Park. He’s scored just seven goals this season and only one of them has come since the turn of the year.

Chesterfield have lost in their last three visits to the North East Coast ground and they will be without key strikers Jack Lester (groin) and Craig Westcarr (hamstring). The manager will no doubt consider going into the game with the 4-1-4-1 formation that did so well against Wycombe Wanderers on Monday.

Hartlepool are likely to include former Spireites loanee Peter Hartley as well as ex Barnsley players Scott Flinders & Neil Austin plus one-time Owl Richie Humphreys in their line-up.
