Midfielder Mark Randall is expected to put pen to paper on his new one year deal this week. The former Rotherham United loanee had a mixed season with injuries and poor form punctuating the campaign. However he ended the season in the team and performing well.

He’ll join striker Scott Boden, midfielder Craig Clay and right-back Tendayi Darikwa who’ve already signed their new 12 month deals.

Only Danny Whitaker is still to indicate his intentions. Last season he was a target of a section of the crowd which will undoubtedly be something he takes into consideration before making his decision. In Spireites’ League Two Championship season he bagged 15 goals from midfield and made it in to the PFA all-star line-up whilst last season he scored the club’s Goal of the Season.

Regarding new player recruitment, the club is hoping to persuade two men to sign on this week with Port Vale striker Marc Richards one of those targets.
