Striker Eoin Doyle, who’s scored in Spireites’ first two games of the season, has signed an extended deal at the Proact.
The 26-year-old Irishman, last season’s top scorer, joined the club in May last year after leaving Scottish Premier League club Hibernian. He is now contracted until the summer of 2016.
Ahead of the clash with Rochadle today, manager Paul Cook, who managed Doyle at Sligo Rovers, said: “I am genuinely delighted for Eoin because he covers every blade of grass on the pitch.”
He joins Jay O’Shea, Ritchie Humphreys, Ollie Banks, Sam Morsy, Sam Hird and Tendayi Darikwa in having signed contract extensions since the end of the Championship campaign last season.
Doyle is expected to start against Rochdale this afternoon despite Armand Gnanduillet’s solid form in pre-season.
