Today will see a number of fringe players attempting to catch the manager’s eye ahead of the two holiday fixtures.

Manager John Sheridan promised changes after the home loss against Scunthorpe, indicating that players that haven’t been involved much could get a chance.

Midfielder Mark Randall, absent from the team from October until coming on as a sub at Wembley, is a likely starter.

Jamie Lowry, is another hoping for a chance.

He could feature in any of the midfield slots or at right-back.

Another engine-roomer, Jimmy Juan, who has made just three starts amidst a run of injuries, is fit again and looks a decent bet to be involved.

Striker Scott Boden, midfielders Craig Clay and Derek Niven, utility players Dan Gray and Tendayi Darikwa have just a dozen League One starts between them this season.

All are out of contract in the summer and all will be hoping to give their manager something to think about before formulating his retained list.
