BARRIE Hubbard, aged 73, has announced he is to retire at the end of Chesterfield’s financial year.

He will stand down as chairman of Chesterfield FC and from the Board which he first joined in 1983, helping to save the club at a time of financial crisis. He re-joined the Board following the disastrous Darren Brown era in 2001.

The most lasting legacies will be the move to the B2net Stadium and leaving behind a financially stable club.
