Paul Cook is hoping to add three new faces to his squad in the not too distant future.

First in line will be a left-sided winger, the type of player Cook says will: “Get the fans on their feet. We need the balance in the squad.

“Jimmy Ryan can play there and so can Jay O’Shea but it’s a real left-sider to play in front of Nathan Smith that we really need.”

A deal for a central midfielder is almost lined-up though it’s believed his present club, who are in a higher division than Chesterfield, want to retain his services.

Finally a powerful central defender is Cook’s third main target and it’s no secret that ex Miller Ryan Cresswell remains firmly in the manager’s sights but, with a year left on his deal at Southend United and Fleetwood Town also interested, it’s not a straight forward deal.

Teenage striker Jacob Hazel, who unsuccessfully went over to Norway recently to attempt to set up a loan deal could be on his way back to Scandanavia.

A second Norwegian club has been contacted with a view to taking on the youngster until their season ends in the Autumn.
