Chesterfield: Cook looks for good start

Paul Cook says how Chesterfield start in this afternoon’s game with bottom of the table AFC Wimbledon will shape the match as a whole.

The manager said: “Wimbledon come here, bottom of the league, they’ve got nothing to lose. We should be expected to beat them, we expect to beat them, but our mentality must be right. How we start the game is vital.

“If we start at the right tempo and do the right things, it could become a good afternoon. If we go out at the wrong tempo, doing the wrong things, it could become a very difficult afternoon.”

Cook added: “If we want to be in the promotion picture, then Saturday becomes a must-win game. But there’s no such thing as must-win in football because they all are. Rochdale was and Southend at home was, and this is a game we need to win.”

Drew Talbot returns to the side after recovering from a broken toe but Tendayi Darikwa misses out as he prepares for a hernia operation and at least a month on the sidelines.
