Chesterfield FC youngster joins Leicester City for undisclosed fee

Chesterfield Academy prospect Will Russ has joined Leicester City for an undisclosed fee.

A sell-on clause has also been agreed with the Premier League club.

Chesterfield academy operations manager John Knapper said: “It is fantastic for Will to be given an opportunity to develop and progress at a Premier League club.

“The academy and the football club have shown a great duty of care in the handling of Will’s situation, given the interest and attention he has attracted over the last 16-18 months.

“The coaching staff and academy manager must take great credit for the contact time in developing Will and more importantly, the support and guidance shown to Will in the time he’s spent at the club.

“Will is a credit to himself and his family and everyone connected with Chesterfield Football Club would like to wish him all the best for the future. We will all keep a keen eye on his development and Will and his family are welcome at the Proact at any time.”
