Chesterfield defender recovering after hernia op

Chesterfield's Charlie Raglan has started on the recovery trail after his hernia operation.

The 22-year-old defender will be sidelined for three-to-four weeks while he undertakes his rehabilitation programme.

Rodger Wylde, Spireites head of sports science and medicine, said: “Charlie underwent a sportsman’s hernia operation to the left side of his body, it’s a routine procedure but one that it was decided was necessary for the player to get over his problem.

“Initial feedback shows that the area was dilated, and this operation usually cures the issue totally and guards against the same problem returning in the future.

“With Charlie now back with us we’ve entered the early rehab as he looks to get back and fit again. If everything progresses well he should be back in squad contention in three to four weeks.

“The stage we’re in now Charlie is starting to work on his posture and his pelvic control with the intensity stepping up over time.”
