Top goalscorer Ched Evans remains out with an ankle injury while midfielder Jon Nolan is sidelined with a hamstring problem.

Caldwell revealed that initial scans had given no real cause for concern but they were still seeking clarity on the injury.

“Ched is still missing with his ankle,” he said.

“He’s getting further scans.

“So far there has been nothing major that has been worrying.

“If his last scan today should be clear then we’ll see him again soon.”

Nolan was injured in first half stoppage time on Tuesday night at Gillingham and is expected to miss at least one game.

Caldwell said: “Jon Nolan picked up a little niggle on Tuesday, he’s going to be unavailable.

“He’ll miss Saturday and probably a few games after that.”

Rumours have circulated on social media that Town are in the market for a new signing.

Caldwell appeared to rule out a move for a free agent, however.

“We’re outside the window. If certain players are available that would help us then we’d look at it but not at the minute,” he said.

“When we sign one then we’ll let you all know.”

But although he revealed that Ryan Fulton is back to full health after a virus, he did admit that further depth in the goalkeeping department would be ideal.

“Dukey has been on the bench the last two games and he’s the goalie coach,” said the manager.

“I wouldn’t be overly keen on putting him on the pitch but he’s put himself forward to be on the bench.

“It’s something we have to look at.”
