Byron-Wright on the mark as Welfare take the fifth from United

GARETH Byron-Wright scored the only goal of the game as Brodsworth Welfare beat South Elmsall United Services 1-0 to move into fifth place in the Premier Division leapfrogging their opposition.

Leaders Rossington Main suffered their first defeat, going down 3-2 at Sutton Rovers, for whom Ben Magilton, Tom Doherty and Ryan Walker were on target. Ryan Wooley and Scott Spencer were the Main marksmen. Defending champions AFC Sportsman Rovers were pipped by Kinsley Boys in a nine-goal thriller.

Joby Hammond notched a hat-trick for the visitors with Joel Edwards and Luke Hindmarch also netting. Thomas Needham, Gavin Wilson, Daniel Moutrey and Jake Ford shared out the Rovers’ consolation goals. Hatfield Main beat Bramley Sunnyside 2-1 thanks to goals by Lee Winterman and Kevin McEwen. Tom Salt reduced the arrears.

A brace from James Newton put Swinton Station Athletic on the way to a 5-0 win over South Kirkby Colliery.

Honours were shared 3-3 when Edlington Town hosted Bawtry Town.

An own goal helped Division One leaders Denaby United win 3-2 at South Kirkby Town. Paul Mills and Ryan Oakley both netted for United with Shaun Hobson scoring both Town goals.

Ackworth United retained second spot after beating Highwayman 4-2 on the back of goals by Dale Ferris, Rob Gordon, Sam Willis and debutant Pablo Garcia-Ochoa.

Carl Grant and Anthony Langton both scored for Dunscroft United in their 2-1 success at ISG Doncaster. Scawthorpe and Bentley Rhinos, for whom Daniel Porteous netted, had a 1-0 victory at Sun FC. Steven Bennett and Bayden Lockwood were on target for Shafton Villa in their 2-0 win at Askern Athletic.
