Blackpool manager McDonald on '˜season best' performance

Blackpool boss Neil McDonald said his side put in a '˜season best' performance at the Proact, and were disappointed not to take all three points.

The Tangerines took the lead through the impressive Brad Potts, before Jay O’Shea levelled it up for Chesterfield.

But it was the first half that will stick in the memory, and perhaps the throat of the visitors – hitting the woodwork three times.

McDonald said: “It’s an excellent point, but we’re very disappointed with it actually.

“We should have been two or three up at half-time, we seemed to hit the crossbar or the post a couple of times, had a really good chance with Brad right at the end.

“A good battling performance, really good counter attacking play, but that was probably the best we’ve played passing and moving the ball all season.

“We just couldn’t put it in the back of the net.”

McDonald was delighted with Potts’ contribution, which signalled a much needed return to form.

He said: “He’s stood up and been counted today, everything he did, driving forward and taking that space – and he should have had more than one goal today.”
