Bets on Beattie could see punters cash in

Scoring for fun at one end, if Sheffield United were able to keep goals out at the other they would challenging at the top of the table.

The fact they have amassed any points at all this season owes much to the form of James Beattie who six months ago, was warming the bench at Everton but now finds himself with eight goals in nine appearances for the Blades.

Beattie is now bet365's 10/3 favourite to top the division's scoring charts and that looks a pretty decent bet given that the versatile marksman has bagged most of his goals in a side that aren't performing at their best at present.

At Bristol City this weekend, it would be a brave punter that sidesteps Beattie and places serious cash on any other first scorer contender, Coral.co.uk's 6/1 shot Lee Trundle included and indeed the former Southampton forward will rightly attract wagers from more than just loyal United supporters at 6/1 (Stan James) to find the target first at Ashton Gate.

For Sheffield Wednesday meanwhile, increased game time for Deon Burton looks set to result in him grabbing his first league goal of the campaign, to add to the two he notched earlier in the season in the Carling Cup. The striker, 31 this month, is a tasty 8/1 with bet365 to put the Owls 1-0 ahead against Leicester at Hillsborough.
