Struber was named as Daniel Stendel's successor earlier in the week, leaving Europa League outfit Wolfsberger for a Championship relegation battle.

His first match is at Blackburn on Saturday and the Austrian is keen to end his new side's drought, which goes back to the start of the season.

That is his primary concern, rather than how he might look to improve his squad in the January transfer window with some experienced players.

“Now it is not the topic, but to play on Saturday and give a top performance,” he said.

“This is my focus and the team’s. We will speak about new players in the next January window.

“The experience is a big advantage in the Championship or in professional football, but I am still convinced we can grow and develop these players to have better results and situations.

“I’m looking forward to it and I hope for a good result and more for a big performance from my players.

“We can plan for a performance and I hope that we have a good start together.”

“This is my job in the next days and next months to get better in these moments when we have the ball and the details when we lose the ball.

“I know the team; I watched many games. I especially know Patrick Schmidt – I played against him in Austria in the Bundesliga and have a good overview of the team and I’m happy to start working with them.”
