Barnsley: 'My to-do list is very long' - Gerhard Struber

Barnsley boss Gerhard Struber is pleased to have a clear week on the training ground in order to get through his to-do list.

The Austrian had a hectic introduction into life in the Oakwell hotseat, with three games in his first 10 days in charge.

After losing his first two games, Struber tasted victory with a 3-1 win over Hull on Saturday.

They are next in action on Saturday, with a trip to Cardiff, and Struber is hoping to make use of his time with the team.

“My to-do list is very long,” he said. “We have very much to do in the next weeks.

“We are happy for the result (against Hull), we have a long week, we have time for training and I hope the next game we have a top performance again.”

The Reds were put on the road to victory against the Tigers by Alex Mowatt's brilliant first-half strike.

The midfielder is going to be a key player for Struber's side if they are to beat the drop.

“Alex [Mowatt] is a leader,” Struber added.

“He is a very important player for my team. He can score, he works hard on the field and he gives the other players around him a good feeling.

“He is a very important player for the team.”

The Reds have been drawn away to Eastleigh or Crewe in the FA Cup third round.

Eastleigh, currently mid-table in the National League, drew 1-1 at home to the League Two promotion chasers Crewe on Saturday. They replay next Tuesday.
