The Reds' position in the Championship looked in a perilous state just three weeks ago.

They had just fallen to a slender 1-0 defeat at relegation rivals Middlesbrough and were eight points adrift of safety at the time.

That was Gerhard Struber's second game in charge, but the following four games have since yielded seven points.

The gap to 21st is now at just four points ahead of the hectic festive period.

Centre-half Diaby scored his first goal for the club in Saturday's emphatic 5-3 win over QPR.

And the Spaniard is in no doubt about his side's survival prospects, following their recent upturn in form since Struber's arrival.

“I believe in my team - I believe we can do it,” said Diaby.

“We need a positive mentality.

"We don’t have excuses now, it is positive mentality, fighting until the end.

“For me, everything is possible. Until it is mathematically not possible, I never think that it is finished.

“If everyone says ‘this is the end’, then I don’t think the team goes anywhere.

“Everybody in the team knows what is the problem, but we are fighting to put these wrongs right. All the players do everything to go forwards.

“We need to keep going because the Championship [season] is long.”

The Reds will hope to continue their good form at Millwall on Saturday.
