The Austrian has been in the Oakwell hotseat for a fortnight and is still assessing his squad.

He knows January will be important as the Reds aim to strengthen their squad for their relegation fight in the Championship, so he is keen to make an informed decision.

“I need the next few weeks to get a good picture,” he said.

“The next transfer window is in January and I think we need one, two or three players that can help us get better.

“But I need a good picture for my team, and in the next few weeks I need to create a good decision for January and to not hesitate.

“We have time and it is very important to get the picture so I can make a good decision.”

Struber has confirmed that Mallik Wilks will not feature at Cardiff this weekend after an illness – and has vowed not to rush the former Leeds United forward back into action.

Wilks has not featured in any of Struber's matchday squads in his first three games and will miss out again.

Struber said: “Mallik is an interesting player for our team, he was sick for three or four days and now he is in training.

“We must speak before to see if it is a good decision.

“We need him in the next games so I think Cardiff is a bit too early for him.”

Barnsley ended a sequence of 18 games without a win by beating Hull City 3-1 at Oakwell last weekend.

They remain bottom of the Championship.
