Danny Wilson was left ruing his side’s wastefulness with the ball as the Reds slipped to a 1-0 defeat to local rivals Doncaster Rovers.
Harry Forrester produced a stunning strike on 84 minutes to settle the South Yorkshire derby at the Keepmoat while Barnsley’s Mason Holgate was sent off late on.
And while pleased with the manner in which his side mounted attacks in the game, Wilson admitted his frustration at seeing the Reds give the ball away so cheaply.
“A lot of their attacks came from our possession more than anything,” Wilson said.
“There were some great situations throughout the game and we’ve just been very loose.”
Wilson added: “That’s where their goal came from. We were in a great situation getting around the back of them, lost possession loosely and then boom, a goal for them.
“We lost the tackle but the finish was fantastic.
“I don’t think Ross (Turnbull) had got much chance with it.
“That was the situation throughout the game. We’d got great opportunities, overloaded a lot of times by making the wrong decisions and that was thes story.
“We just have to work with it and make sure we make the right decisions.”
Wilson said he had no issue with Holgate’s red card for a heavy challenge on Richie Wellens.
