Bookies are fairly confident neither Sheffield Wednesday nor Barnsley will have a promotion to celebrate at the end of the coming season.

In their Championship division, QPR are fancied for an immediate return to the top flight, bet365 making them title favourites at 6/1 and relegated Reading follow Rangers in the betting at 10/1 ( alongside BetVictor’s 10/1 shots Bolton.

For the Owls and the Reds however, a promotion challenge is deemed unlikely – betwayquote odds of 100/1 and 150/1 respectively for them to finish first.

In the Premier division, defending champions Man United are the value title bet at 9/4 with BetVictor, given that the overestimation of the ‘Mourinho effect’ arguably makes Chelsea a touch slender at 23/10 (Paddy Power) and Man City (12/5, Skybet).

Bookies are looking no further than the promoted trio in the relegation market; Crystal Palace (8/15, Stan James), Hull (4/6, Ladbrokes) and Cardiff (7/4, bet365) heading the bottom three betting.
