KEITH Hill will not be Barnsley’s next manager.

The Rochdale boss was the Reds’ preferred choice to fill the vacant Oakwell hotseat following the resignation of Mark Robins but the two parties could not agree terms.

“We [me and my assistant David Flitcroft] will be here [at Rochdale] next season,” said Hill. “It doesn’t help with so much speculation flying around. We’ve had it before when we were linked with the Crystal Palace job, but we will be here at the start of the season.”

A statement on the Rochdale official website read: “Keith Hill has confirmed that he will not be moving to Barnsley and it’s business as usual at Rochdale.”

Rochdale chairman Chris Dunphy said: “Keith is happy at Rochdale and even though I do worry a bit when I see jobs coming up at clubs like Barnsley and Sheffield United, you have to consider that Keith has a secure job at Rochdale. He knows he has the full support of the board.” Reds: P39
