Relegated Blades tipped to end on low note

Sheffield United’s relegation was confirmed last weekend and Micky Adams’ men are expected to bow out of the Championship with defeat in the final game of the campaign, at Swansea.

The hosts are 4/7 with Betfred to collect three points in Wales, where the Blades are Victor Chandler’s 11/2 outsiders and Betdaq quote 4.0 (3/1) for a draw.

Ambitious punters can tackle bet365’s 20/1 for United to register a second consecutive 2-2 stalemate but Blades fans hoping to back their side are probably better to head to the handicaps, where Paddy Power give Adams’ charges a goal start and 11/8 and Coral offer 2/5 for an away success when United are handed a two-goal cushion.

In December, United beat the Jacks 1-0, a result that will probably go down as one of the bright points in a dark season. The Blades are 14/1 courtesy of Stan James to grab the game’s only goal, William Hill make them 13/2 to come out on top by a one-goal margin and a Blades lead at the end of each half is priced by Totesport at 11/1.

At Hillsborough, Sheffield Wednesday are odds-on at 10/11 with Partybets to end a frustrating season on a high by getting the better of Exeter, Ladbrokes’ 3/1 outsiders. The Owls have lost just one of their last seven and Gary Megson’s side could secure a top-half finish if they land a maximum haul.

They’re 11/4 (bet365) to edge it by one and 15/2 with Sportingbet to finish 2-1 winners in what could be a close contest given the resilience of the Grecians, who have won six of their last seven.

William Hill make hosts Barnsley 13/8 to beat Millwall. The Tykes have drawn three of their last four so punters might fancy another stalemate, 12/5 with bet365. Doncaster are 4/1 outsiders at Ladbrokes to win at Middlesbrough but as the hosts are in decent shape, Rovers fans might prefer Stan James’ 23/20 for Sean O’Driscoll’s men to avoid defeat.

In League Two, Chesterfield are quoted by Coral at a generous 6/5 to clinch the title by beating play-off-chasing Gillingham. Betfred post 21/10 against a Rotherham triumph as the Millers entertain Torquay.
