Barnsley boss Danny Wilson knows his side did themselves a big favour with a long-overdue away league win on Tuesday night.
Wilson has been involved in the game long enough to know that one result doesn’t make a season, but he was right to take plenty of confidence from a battling display on their travels.
The win lifted the Reds off the foot of the table and makes his side’s forthcoming clash with fellow-strugglers Charlton Athletic – re-arranged from earlier in the season – all the more important in the battle to avoid relegation.
“It was a big statement from us,” stressed Wilson. “Three points away from home in particular, is fantastic.”
