Barnsley boss Danny Wilson will be faced with some head-scratching this morning, as he gears up for what is sure to be a tricky Sky Bet League One test at Rochdale
It’s been a hectic few days at Oakwell.
The Reds swooped to sign Aussie winger Ryan Williams on an initial one-month loan from Fulham earlier this week, while Wilson is still hopeful of recapturing defender Peter Ramage on a temporary agreement from Crystal Palace in time for kick-off today at Spotland.
They would be seen as two crucial additions to a squad which has stuttered of late, with the Reds currently in the drop zone following a run of five games without a win.
The Reds boss said: “We’ve got virtually everyone available, and I expect a full complement by the time the Rochdale game is upon us.
“What we want is to get that consistency and to get everyone available.
“We’ve not had that consistency in the team over the last few weeks and we really need to nail that down.
“It’s up to the players to get that shirt and say ‘get me out of the team if you can’.
“We have had some erratic performances and we need to eradicate that.
“It’s about confidence, and if you win a couple of games that confidence starts to rise.
“On the reverse side, if you aren’t winning games or putting your chances into the net, that’s been our Achilles’ heel.
“That’s when confidence come into it. You want strong characters in your team to get you back into games.
“We have been prioritising areas, but it’s also about when players become available.”
Ramage, aged 30, played 25 games for the Reds last season after joining on loan in September 2013, and remained at Oakwell until the end of the campaign.
