Barnsley striker Chris Dagnall is expected to leave the club today in a loan move to Coventry City.

And the Reds are hoping to sign either another striker or an offensive-minded player before the loan deadline window shuts at 5pm.

The club have already recruited four loan signings this season, but are looking for one more recruit with a possible five allowed in a match-day squad at any one time.

Yeovil Town striker Paddy Madden has been a player on the club’s wanted list, but The Star understands that it is highly-unlikely that a potential deal to bring the Irishman to Oakwell will happen.

Madden has been transfer-listed by the Glovers having fallen out of favour with manager Gary Johnson.

Johnson dropped the player in October and publicly admitted Madden had “attitude problems”.

He later went on record as saying that him and the striker, who scored 23 times in the club’s successful promotion from League One last season, had patched up their differences.

But Madden, 23, has started just six games this season and the Glovers are happy to offload the player.

Dagnall, meanwhile, got a 20-minute run-out in last Saturday’s 1-0 away defeat to Millwall. But that was the former Tranmere Rovers and Rochdale hitman’s first action for over two months.

The 27-year-old has played 10 times this season for the Reds, six times as a starter. However, he has not started a game since Tuesday, September 17 when the Reds went down 1-0 away to Bournemouth.Manager David Flitcroft revealed the player was “desperate” to play football, but with Chris O’Grady and Marcus Pedersen the preferred strike force at the club, Dagnall looks like he’ll have to move.
