Barnsley defender Jimmy McNulty has agreed a new one-year deal with the Championship club.

The Star understands McNulty will sign his new contract at Oakwell on Tuesday, making him the fourth player on the club’s retained list who has agreed to stay.

Fellow defender Tom Kennedy and midfielder Kelvin Etuhu have both agreed new two-year deals at the club, although both players have yet to sign their new contracts.

And experienced striker Jason Scotland has signed a one-year contract extension to play for the Reds for a second season. Club stalwarts Bobby Hassell, who is approaching a decade at the club, and goalkeeper Luke Steele are currently mulling over one-year deals to stay, although both of those contracts are understood to be reduced terms.

Winger Tomasz Cywka is considering his new one-year deal, while centre-back Martin Cranie, who is believed to have attracted interest from other clubs, has a two-year deal on the table.

“All the players have got their contracts, so we expect to be hear back from them all in the next couple of weeks,” Reds director Don Rowing said. “There are a lot of players on holiday at the moment.”
