BARNSLEY defender Jay McEveley is a major doubt for Saturday’s home clash with Ipswich Town, due to kick off at the later time of 5.20pm with the match being broadcast live on SKY Sports.
The former Blackburn Rovers left-back missed Tuesday night’s 2-1 home win over Crystal Palace with a thigh strain.
Midfielder David Perkins filled in at left-back for 45 minutes and then substitute Scott Wiseman for the second half of the game, which was Barnsley’s fourth Championship win in succession.
“Jay McEveley’s injured,” revealed Reds boss Keith Hill. “It’s unlikely he’ll be fit for the weekend, but I hope he is.
“But it’s a squad game and we need the players who weren’t included in midweek to come in. The players know that and that’s what’s good about being at Barnsley at this time.”
Meanwhile, the Reds will host Swansea City in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday January 7, kick-off 3pm.
