UTILITY player Kieran Trippier has been called up to the provisional England Under-21 squad for this summer’s UEFA European Championship in Denmark.
Trippier, who has spent the season on loan at Barnsley from Manchester City, has been included in England boss Stuart Pierce’s 40-man squad.
“It’s great news for Kieran and for us,” Reds director Don Rowing told The Star. “Kieran’s been a good signing for us this season. It’s great when any of our players get international recognition.”
Trippier is set to make his final appearance for the Reds against Millwall on Saturday.
The England Under-21 squad, who finished runners-up in 2009, head to Denmark on June 8 to continue their preparations for the two-week tournament.
