BARNSLEY are “down to the bare bones” ahead of the New Year’s Eve derby against Leeds United and then Doncaster Rovers two days later.

Newcastle loan striker Nile Ranger is out with an ankle injury, while Manchester United loanee Danny Drinkwater is still nursing a thigh problem.

“It’s scary going into these games, we’re down to the bare bones,” said Reds boss Keith Hill. “There’s pressure on us with two games in three days.”
