Hassell eyes Reds revival after cup exit

BARNSLEY defender Bobby Hassell is backing the Reds to bounce back from their FA Cup defeat to West Ham and get back on track against Hull City in the Championship on Saturday.

The Reds take on the Tigers at the Kingston Communication Stadium looking for their first win over their opponents since February 2007.

Hull have not lost to the Reds in their last three meetings, but go into the fixture on back of a 3-2 FA Cup defeat to Wigan last Saturday.

"Our next five games are massive for us," Hassell told The Star. "I think the next five games will really determine whether we're going to be able to push for a Play-off place.

"I reckon we've got to win at least three of those matches and get a draw as well. We want to keep pushing up the table and keep the pressure on the other teams around us.

"It's going to a be a tough challenge for us, but all the players are ready for it.

"It's a big game against Hull for us. There results have picked up of late, so we know it's going to be hard."

The Reds are 16th in the table and just six points off the Play-offs with a game, and even two games in hand on some of the sides above them.

And Hassell is experienced enough to know that with the distraction of the FA Cup having slipped them by, the bread and butter of the league campaign is now the club's firm focus.

"We had a poor first half against West Ham, they surprised us with how direct they played," added Hassell.

"We should have probably dropped off a little bit more at the back, but luckily Steeley (Luke Steele] made some brilliant saves."
