BARNSLEY have signed Cowdenbeath striker Kane Hemmings on a one-year deal.
As exclusively revealed in The Star this morning, the Reds swooped to sign the centre-forward in preparation for next season.
Hemmings, aged 22, netted 24 goals in just 39 appearances last season and won the Scottish Championship Player of the Year award.
Formerly of Scottish giants Rangers, Hemmings was born in Burton-on-Trent and craved the chance to test himself in English football having originally played for Tamworth.
“I’m delighted to be here,” admitted Hemmings. “I scored a couple of hat-tricks last season, so if I can replicate that [form] again I’ll be happy.”
Reds boss Danny Wilson added: “I don’t think he will have any problem adapting to football in our League [One].”
Hemmings is Wilson’s second summer signing having already recruited goalkeeper Adam Davies on a two-year deal from local neighbours Sheffield Wednesday.
