Sheffield United’s incredible 3-2 success at Reading means that, mathematically, they can still survive although it would take a significant swing in goal difference and either Crystal Palace or Doncaster to lose both of their remaining games while the Blades win theirs.

As they need something of a miracle then, Micky Adams’ men are 25/1 with Victor Chandler to stay up but they’re at least fancied to keep up their side of the bargain in the first instance, by beating Barnsley in tomorrow’s Bramall Lane clash.

United are 23/20 favourites at William Hill to overcome the Tykes, Betdaq’s 3.6 (13/5) outsiders while a draw is priced by Paddy Power at 5/2 and the latter, alongside a 2-2 scoreline (14/1, Betfred) could prove popular given that it’s a derby.

However, having secured back-to-back successes to give themselves the faintest hope of retaining their Championship status, the Blades should come out on top and they’re 11/4 with Partybets to prevail by a one-goal margin.

A third consecutive 3-2 triumph for Adams’ troops is a 28/1 shot at Sportingbet but the Blades could do with a more emphatic win and Stan James rate them at 11/4 to get the better of Mark Robins’ side by at least two clear goals.

The Blades need a Doncaster defeat against Leicester but Sean O’Driscoll’s men, bet365’s 11/5 outsiders, can get a result at the Keepmoat Stadium against Sven Goran Eriksson’s Foxes, who don’t travel well and are now on the very fringes of the play-off battle. It’s 8/13 with Coral for Doncaster to avoid defeat.

Sheffield Wednesday will relegate Bristol Rovers if they take anything from the pair’s match at the Memorial Stadium. The Owls are 2/1 at Victor Chandler to land a maximum haul and Coral price them at 5/2 to bag a point, two results that would send the hosts into League Two and Gary Megson’s side are 8/13 with Stan James to manage one or the other.

Chesterfield are 5/2 (Betfred) to move closer to the League Two title by seeing off Torquay tonight. Rotherham are 2/1 with Totesport to keep their faint hopes of making the play-offs alive by co llecting three points at Aldershot.
