Barnsley have been linked with moves to recruit two Premier League players.
The Reds are understood to be interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur striker Jonathan Obika and Queens Park Rangers striker Tom Hitchcock.
Obika is believed to have attracted the attention of a number of clubs having failed to cement a regular starting place at White Hart Lane.
The 23-year-old striker has been on loan at no fewer than seven different clubs over the last six seasons, with four loan spells at Yeovil Town during that period.
Obika has also been on loan at Millwall, Crystal Palace, Peterborough United, Swindon Town, Charlton Athletic and Brighton and Hove Albion.
The former England Under-19 and Under-20 international finished the season with the Addicks, but failed to score a goal in 12 appearances.
His previous loan spell with the Seagulls also resulted in no goals in five games, but the player could benefit from a spell in League One under Reds’ boss Danny Wilson’s tutelage.
Hoops hitman Hitchcock is also understood to be a target with a number of clubs also believed to be after his signature.
The 21-year-old played seven games on loan at Rotherham United last season and scored five goals. He has also had loan spells with Plymouth Argyle, Bristol Rovers and Crewe Alexandra.
The Reds have announced Britannia Drilling as one of two kit sponsors for the new season.
The local firm will sponsor the back of the club’s new kit made by Avec Sport, while CK Beckett return for another season on the front of the jersey.
Meanwhile, any season ticket holders wishing to renew their current seats at Oak well have until 5pm on Monday 30th June to do so. Season tickets then go on general sale the following morning at 9am.
