Lewin Nyatanga has no doubt that Barnsley have the character to be successful in League One this term.
Defender Nyatanga celebrated his 27th birthday in style on Tuesday night with a stoppage-time winner as the Reds came from behind to clinch a dramatic 3-2 win away to Millwall at The Den.
And having also conceded a late equaliser just prior to his winner and gone on to still triumph, Nyatanga believes the young squad deserve plenty of plaudits for fighting right until the bitter end to register a third victory in a row.
“You couldn’t have written it [the script] any better,” beamed Nyatanga.
“I was delighted to grab the winner and really pleased for the team because we showed a great deal of character to come back from a goal down
“It just shows that we’ve got character in this team and it’s something for us to build on.”
The Reds host off-form Bradford City at Oakwell on Saturday knowing victory could see them climb into the top six for the first time this season.
And having struggled in previous seasons to start the season well, Nyatanga knows the importance of trying to build on a promising start which has also seen victories over Scunthorpe United in the Capital One Cup and Burton Albion in the league.
“You want to take every game as it comes, but we also don’t want to get too carried away,” added Nyantanga.
“We’re a young team and the victory is definitely something to build on.
“We can look to Saturday now and look for another win. We want to solidify ourselves to really make ourselves a tough team to beat.”
